[Proposition J Contract/Camp Mather Operations for Recreation and Parks Department/Fiscal Emergency]
Resolution concurring with the Controller's certification that Camp Mather Operations for Recreation and Parks Department can be performed by private contractor for a lower cost than similar work performed by City and County employees. Mayor presented. RECEIVED AND ASSIGNED to Budget and Finance Committee. The Mayor requests this item be heard before the Budget & Finance Committee in the process of the Board's consideration of the Mayor's proposed budget for FY 2005-06.

Naturalists for Summer 2009
- Tom Graham - Naturalist for Pre-Camp thru August 15

- Neil Fahey - Weeks 1 and 2, June 6-20, Neal has a long history of working as a naturalist at the Camp dating back to the 1940s, and his involvement this summer will be a special bonus to campers during the weeks he is present. Dick Shaat has indicated that he will volunteer during the week he is in camp

- Saul the Artiste - art programs for Week 8, week of July 25
FRIENDS of CAMP MATHER BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
- Robin Sherrer, President, is one of the FoCM Board responsible for resuscitating the Friends of Camp Mather organization in 2002, and worked with former Treasurer, Sue Marshall, to achieve FoCM's 501(c)3 status. Sherrer initiated the Volunteer Leader program. Experienced in design, retail, and event planning, she is now back in school completing a degree and updating design and computer skills.
- Midge Lingvai, Treasurer, is one of the original five 2002 FoCM Board members who were responsible for turning the Friends of Camp Mather organization into a 501(c)3. She has been working as an accountant for the last 26 years with a large architectural firm, studied accounting at Golden Gate University and has been visiting Camp Mather for 30 years.
- Teri Low, Secretary, fourth generation San Franciscan has spent the majority of her working years in the travel industry and at various law firms; majored in accounting and paralegal studies.
- Mark Luttrell, Assistant Secretary - Civil Engineer, Vice President, Manager of AECOM Environment's Northern California operations and father of 2. His company provides engineering consulting, site remediation, and environmental health and safety management solutions serving the energy, transportation, facilities, and environmental markets, and industrial and commercial companies and government agencies. Mark steps in when Teri Low is unavailable.
- Shirley Barisone, Founder of the original Friends of Camp Mather (established in 1983), teacher, SF police officer, Park and Rec playground director, native San Franciscan and a 73 year Mather camper. Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sewer of Mather curtains, Birch Lake water runs in her veins!
- Tom McIntyre, CRNA and is currently a stay at home dad and an active volunteer. He sits on the board of FoCM, and is a Room Parent at his daughter's school.
- Lisa DiGirolamo, parent, teacher and grant-writer, Girolomo lived in San Francisco for 20 years. She and her partner are both ecologists with extensive experience in natural resource management and environmental education.
- Matt Cory, ranger and naturalist for the Golden Gate National Park at the Marin Headlands,and Maintenance Work Leader, MAHE Grounds, NPS is also a summer volunteer naturalist and yoga instructor at Camp Mather. He brings his veteran experience of parks, volunteer programs and the National Park Service to FoCM.
- Bob Frantz, retired city employee (35 yrs. service) and former Camp assistant; Mather camper since 1979; volunteer since 2005. He has a B.A. from SFSU.
- Maria Balestrieri, a native San Franciscan, has been going to Yosemite and Camp Mather all her life. Working for St. Vincent de Paul School since 1991 as secretary, bookkeeper and admissions director. she was previously with the Mountain View Police Department and before that she worked in banking customer service and loss prevention. Past President of the St. Brendan Mothers' Club and a current co-chair for the 2010 Auction Dinner Dance. Married to Steve Balestrieri since 1990 (Captain/Paramedic with the Menlo Park Fire Department); 2 children, Tori and Nick, who would rather die than not go to Camp Mather every summer.
- Joe Litehiser, Bechtel geologist and long-time Camp Mather clean-up week volunteer, is heading the Memorial Grove Committee. Joe's fiancee, Linda Harte,
is an active volunteer, and assisting with the Memorial Grove. Someone they both want remembered is Joe's first wife and Linda's friend, Socorro, who participated as a regular clean-up week volunteer and camp angel.
Former Officers and Directors, Emeritus:
- Tony Patch, our late Vice President, late husband of Midge Lingvai, native San Franciscan, and a 60 year Mather Camper, was one of the five 2002 FoCM Board members who were responsible for turning the Friends of Camp Mather organization into a 501(c)3. He was a retired small business owner and sports official; he was well known at City Hall and SFR+P where he advocated on behalf of Camp Mather.
- Susan Marshall, former Treasurer and Co-founder of the FoCM 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation
Friends of Camp Mather usual meeting day is the 1st Wednesday of each month.
