ADA Accessibility: Camp Mather paved several roads through camp many years ago for ADA accessibility. We have 6 cabins which are designated Accessible as they have ramps and paved path to the door. 3 of the 6 bathhouses are accessible: Bath House B, Bath house C and the Pool Bath house. There is a 4th bath house which can be opened upon request, as it has in the past, to be used by someone living in the campsites out by the ball field. When registering, notice that there is a place on the form to request an accessible cabin. If at any time assistance is needed while at camp, just let staff know at the office and they will do their best to assist. If you have further questions about camp, you can contact Claudia Reinhart, Camp Manager, at email address: mathermanager@hotmail.com

Camp in session June - September

2009 -NO Fall Camp - there will be 12 summer sessions starting June 6 and ending August 27. Easiest weeks to get in are Weeks 1 (6/6) + 12 (8/22) when SF schools are in session

Interested individuals may visit the city's Camp Mather web site, call the Mather desk of the San Francisco Park and Recreation Department at 831-2715 or 831-6800 or visit McLaren Lodge, 501 Stanyan, in Golden Gate Park on the corner of Fell and Stanyan Streets. APPLICATION ONLINE, available until deadline. Proof of residence requires updating every two years (2009, 2011, 2013, etc).

If you miss the application deadline for Summer  ~
After the notification date  you may call the Mather Desk, 831-2715 or 831-6800,  to see if there are any openings.  You may also call 1 or 2 weeks before the week you want to go to see if there have been cancellations. The waiting list is only for those who applied by the February  deadline, but did not get a reservation.

Call Camp Mather directly,  209-379-2284, Thursday nights to see if there are any last minute vacancies for the following week.  Mather Manager, Claudia Reinhart, offers available reservations from last minute cancellations on a first come first served basis at camp.

Open 12 full weeks June 6 through August 29, 2009 for families and groups. Cabins, tent sites, meals, horse stables, lake, pool, tennis, badminton court, ping pong tables, softball-soccer field, volleyball courts. Organized programs, campers choose events or relax at camp. Programs and activities for every age group every day: crafts, fishing, archery, hikes, mountain biking, special teen activities, tournaments, talent shows, bingo, dances, movies, swimming.

Cost for San Francisco residents for a week, 2 adults and 2 children in a 4 person cabin, is about $1,100; approximately $100 more per week for non-residents. These prices reflect the 25% fee increase for Summer 2005 that was approved by the Board of Supervisors. Short Fall Weeks, when offered, are prorated. Fees are increased yearly that reflect the cost of living. More information HERE.

*Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life."

We want repairs for Camp Mather included in the SF City budget -

Please email the Supervisors and Mayor - and share what Mather means to you and your Family.

Let the Supervisors, the Mayor, and everyone at City Hall know what Camp Mather means to San Francisco. There are safety issues with the foundation of the historic Jack Spring Dining Hall.
Will the new Board of Supervisors support this San Franciscan treasure?

Information on what was included in the 2008 voter approved General Obligation Rec + Park Bond (not Camp Mather) can be found here.

NOTICE FROM THE CAMP MANAGER:

There are openings this summer. Due to the economic situation, many families are not using their reservations.

If you are interested in going to Camp Mather, this would be a good year. During the usual lottery in February, SF families are processed before non-SF'ers, so non-SF'ers have little chance of getting in.  Even for SF families, it is difficult to get a reservation.

Contact the SFR+P Mather Desk, 415-831-2715.

If you would like to find out about last minute availabilities, call Camp Mather directly: 209-379-2284.
